Bo #1- How Humble?

In this weeks parasha, Parashat bo, moshe asks paroh how much longer he will humble himself (exodus 10:3). What does he mean by this? According to Sforno moshe was referring to the fact that he already showed paroh how he was dominant to him and that it was time to give up. Clearly Paroh would not be impressed by all these miracles, but maybe if they drag on Paroh will eventually give into Moshe, and Hashem's, power over him. What else could moshe be referring to?

  1. Rashi says that "humble yourself" according to Ounklus is derived from the word עני. It means you have refused to be humble before me.

  2. According to Rabbi Scherman, just like it says in the Torah that Moshe was the most humble person to ever live, he was respecting פרעה and treating him as an equal by using the same loshon

  4. Chizkuni says that pharaoh is still not recognizing hashem as the true g-d because all of the food that remained after barad. So, moshe is saying to him that he should be humble because that's not valid proof.

  5. According to aish.com what Moshe was referring to was the fact that Pharoh heart was being hardened by Hashem. So he was asking a question to pharaoh that was aimed at Hashem, as in how much longer it would take until pharaoh would give in through Hashem "softening" his heart.
